Independence
independence nights
on your knees son I consent
kiss unite free doms
forever your girl
storm beach rocks many sea shores
brave spear tiny jab
humble warriors
bless and curse our memories
toast for lost brothers
sweet boy died one war
traverse world no map no name
semper fi safe nets
hard life about face
buzz cut clean pure navy scrubs
hush loud peace share now
Thanks to the “Angel of the Battlefield” or the more popular, ”Lady with the Lamp,” nurses typically share a very special bond with soldiers. I am no exception to this American rule and by the way Clara Barton was a schoolteacher who served as a nurse during the Civil War and is the battlefield angel I speak of.
It’s 0400 and I’m putting the finishing touches on my upcoming article about Independence Day, before I have to start getting ready for work which starts at 0700 sharp. I stacked 4 shifts back to back so I will have a nice stretch of days off and will get to actually celebrate next week’s holiday. Now that it’s day 3, I completely regret having done this, but it’s a sacrifice I chose to make.
It’s Summer America. Let’s live free and let’s try not to die. Have a wonderful day!
For me, the key sentence here is: "hard life about face." Hope you're well this week, Kristin? Cheers, -Thalia
Thank you for your service, Kristin!
